Grading the regular season for all 32 NFL teams

The 2015 NFL season has come to a close and the playoff field is set. While there are 12 teams that will now look to weave their way through the postseason and try to finish the year above the rest as the champions of Super Bowl 50, there are 20 other teams that will be at home watching and thinking about what went wrong and where they go from here.

There was no shortage of surprises in the 2015 season throughout the year. The Indianapolis Colts were largely considered to be a Super Bowl favorite out of the AFC, yet they started off the season abysmally with Andrew Luck healthy and ultimately are now one of the 20 teams left outside of the playoffs with their star quarterback missing the entire second half of the season due to injury.

It’s also not a stretch to say that the run that the Carolina Panthers went on this season was wildly surprising. After they won the NFC South in 2014 with a 7-8-1 record, it was clear that they were a young team that was going to improve in 2015. However, no one saw the Panthers starting the season 14-0 and finishing the year at 15-1 and with the best record in the league.

Moreover, there were other teams around the league who had shocking portions of the season. The Atlanta Falcons certainly qualify in that regard after they started 2015 looking like one of the best teams in the league before going on a massive losing streak and struggling just to finish the year at .500.

Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs also fit into that mold as well, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. They started the season looking like they may need to shake things up on the roster because things were going so poorly, they finished the year going on a massive winning streak and playing their way into a postseason berth.

Then, of course, there were those teams that met expectations throughout the entire season, those teams that were supposed to be terrible and were, and teams that were somewhere in between. Every team has their own story and their reasons for finishing the season in the place and state that they did.

With all of the factors being considered in terms of injuries, expectations, and everything else that you can think of, these are the grades for each NFL team for the 2015 regular season.
