Regular season grades for every NFL team
The St. Louis Rams really were who everyone thought they were coming into the 2015 NFL season. Even with the addition of Nick Foles on the offensive side of the ball, the Rams still struggled to put together a consistent attack and to put points on the board. With that happening on offense and with the defense being ravaged by injuries to key components—especially on their front seven where guys like Aaron Donald were out for much of the year—it’s unsurprising that they finished at a below-average 7-9.
If there was one bright spot on the Rams in 2015, literally anyone with half a brain is going to point to the performance of rookie running back Todd Gurley. Even playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, Gurley still showed a tremendous amount of promise and gave St. Louis fans a legitimate reason to be excited for the future. However, the lack of consistency and weapons elsewhere in the offense were less than impressive.
The injuries to the defense certainly limited what this team was capable of with such a limited offense even further. That being said, the Rams weren’t terrible, remained competitive throughout most of the year. Moreover, elements like Gurley and the more prominent use of Tavon Austin give reasons for some optimism. There’s no reason to get over-excited about this season for St. Louis, but no reason to be distraught either.
