Regular season grades for every NFL team
The Washington Redskins were expected to be the joke of the NFC East at the start of the season. With all of the problems throughout the organization stemming from the situation regarding Robert Griffin III, they seemed destined to finish as the laughingstock of the division and one of the punchlines of the NFL as a whole.
Yet here they are bound for the postseason as the division winners out of the NFC East.
No one is going to make the mistake of saying that the Redskins are now going to contend for a Super Bowl or say outlandish things like Jay Gruden is one of the best coaches in the entirety of the NFL. That wasn’t true at the start of the season and it remains untrue now. However, this Washington team far exceeded expectations and, even more importantly, they may have actually made the right call at quarterback.
For all of the ups and downs that he and the team as a whole had en route to winning the worst division in football this season, Kirk Cousins clearly established himself as the right call as the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins. There were plenty of people who doubted that and reasonably so. But you can’t argue with his numbers or the success he and Washington had in 2015.
