According to a report, Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson could be a name to watch for the 49ers head coaching job.

The San Francisco 49ers front office might not have too many chances left with ownership, especially if they botch the next coaching hire. They need to hit a home run and hire the next head coach that will turn the team into a competitive one again.

According to Albert Breer, one name to keep an eye on for the 49ers’ job is Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.

Jackson has done a remarkable job revitalizing the Bengals’ offense and his work with Andy Dalton in 2015, has made him one of the more impressive coaching candidates.

Jackson has always been a popular coordinator among many and many have felt his time would come again as a head coach in the league. Jackson was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders for one season, before he was fired and relieved of his duties after the team finished 8-8 on the season.

With the Bengals making the playoffs once again this season, it’s become clear that Jackson really is one of the best offensive minds in football today. Teams are going to be calling and if Breer is right, that team could be the 49ers.

Add in the fact that Jackson worked with general manger Trent Baalke with the Washington Redskins and there could very well be something to the report, as it would make sense for there to be some mutual interest between the two.

The Bengals are getting ready for the playoffs and an interview would likely have to wait, but if the 49ers are willing to be patient and not rush their coaching search, then Jackson could be a very viable option for their next head coach.
