The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly interested in hiring Alex Anthopoulos as GM.

The former General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, Alex Anthopoulos, had a memorable 2015 season that could lead way to an even better 2016 season.

The Toronto Star reports that the former GM who led the team to the playoffs for the first time since 1993, is rumored to be joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Anthopoulos joined the Toronto Blue Jays in 2003. He worked his way through the organization to become the team’s General Manager in 2009. At the age of 38, he is considered a mastermind at making trades and acquiring players that neither the fans, nor media ever expected but can’t help loving. Last season, his biggest additions were adding Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies and David Price from the Detroit Tigers.

Both transactions surprised fans in Canada.

Prior to October’s elimination of the Blue Jays, at the hands of the Kansas City Royals, Anthopoulos decided to leave the franchise he helped build up into a playoff team. There were suggestions that he was unwilling to work with Mark Shapiro, who was announced as the team’s new President after years with the Cleveland Indians organization. Anthopoulos left and the Blue Jays brought in Ross Atkins as the team’s new General Manager.

After Anthopoulos’ resignation, he was named the 2015 MLB executive of the year by The Sporting News.

The current GM of the Dodgers, Farhan Zaidi, is Canadian. If the reports of the Anthopoulos heading to the Dodgers are in fact true, there will be more Canadian blood in the management team..Zaidi, who was a former assistant GM with the Oakland Athletics already has a working relationship with Alex..

Big things are expected from the Dodgers this summer. Already this offseason, they lost Zack Greinke to free agency and replaced him with Japanese pitcher Kenta Maeda, fired manager Don Mattingly and replaced him with Dave Roberts. They were also involved in the Todd Frazier blockbuster three team trade with the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to all of these changes, this is also the final season of the voice of the Dodgers, Vin Scully, doing the play by play.
