UCLA. Myles Jack. 12. player. 15.
With the future of Sean Payton and his staff in question, knowing what kind of defensive system will be run next year will not be known for a period of time. For now, let’s assume the Saints are sticking with this current scheme, Payton or no Payton.

After drafting Stephone Anthony and Hau’oli Kikaha in last years draft, the Saints need to find a weakside linebacker. Having a young corp of starting linebackers is a great first step in rebuilding a Saints defense that failed to perform under Rob Ryan.

Myles Jack out of UCLA is a great fit for this defense. He is probably the most versatile player coming out this year, playing every linebacker position, safety, and running back in college. While he will not be bringing back the days of Chuck Bednarik and the 60-minute men of NFL past, he will certainly help take this Saints defense to the next level.

A note of caution though with Jack. A knee injury ended his season at UCLA, forcing him to leave school early and set his primary focus towards his rehab. While the extend of his recovery is not known, the same mindset that comes with taking Jaylon Smith or a Todd Gurley comes into play.

Previous Pick: DeForest Buckner, DE
. Linebacker
