Steve Sarkisian is trying to get back to coaching, but it’s not at the collegiate level.

Former USC Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian is trying to get the headset back on, but it’s not in the way that some people might have expected. According to Adam Schefter, the former Trojans head man is checking to see if there would be any interest from someone in the NFL as either a quarterbacks coach or even an offensive coordinator.

Sarkisian began the 2015 college football season as the coach of the Trojans, but he didn’t finish the year in that position. In mid-October Sarkisian was fired by athletic director Pat Haden after apparently his alcohol addiction became too much. There were rumors swirling that he even showed up to work intoxicated and had to be sent home by his boss, and it’s been a messy situation from there.

It’s actually gotten so messy that the former coach has filed a $30 million wrongful termination suit against the school.

That termination suit could indeed be why he’s testing the waters in the NFL to get back to work. With the filing of the suit, there are more than likely a lot of college programs out there who would be scared to hire him as a head man for the time being.

While he struggled through personal issues and running a college program, we can remember that he was a successful coordinator and that might translate to the NFL level. So, this might not be all that bad of an idea.
