Here are five reasons why the Kansas City Chiefs can go on and win their first Super Bowl since 1969.
The NFL playoffs are upon us, and all of the 12 teams still alive in the NFL will be looking at the chance to win the biggest prize in football, the Super Bowl. In the NFC, the headline act is the Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton led his Panthers to a game away from perfection and dominated the NFL from Week 1. They hold the number one seed in the NFC and, alongside the Arizona Cardinals, are the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Speaking of the Cardinals, Bruce Arians has done an incredible job down in the desert, leading one of the NFL’s best offenses, consisting of a dynamic trio of receivers in Fitzgerald, Floyd and Brown, to a 13-3 record and the second seed in the NFC. They will be challenged by the hot Seattle Seahawks, who went 6-1 down the stretch and pummeled the aforementioned Cardinals in Week 17.
Meanwhile, things are a little more competitive in the AFC. There is no runaway team like the Panthers, and all have their strengths and weaknesses. The Denver Broncos posses the number one seed, and will be joined by the New England Patriots in watching the first round of the postseason on TV. The Cincinnati Bengals will face off with divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in one of the most exciting games of the whole season.
Finally, the AFC sees the two biggest surprises in the NFL face off against each other. The Houston Texans looked terrible in the opening month of the season, and after starting 2-5, recovered on the back of a terrific defense to win the AFC South at 9-7. The Chiefs, similarly, started a woeful 1-5 and looked destined for a top 10 draft pick. They then reeled off 10 straight wins, finished 11-5 and secured the number five seed.
The playoffs are the most exciting time of the NFL season, and the Super Bowl is the culmination of all this excitement. So, here is why the Kansas City Chiefs, yes, those 1-5 Kansas City Chiefs, will win the ultimate prize and lift the Vince Lombardi trophy.
