Kristaps Porzingis got dunked on again against the Heat, this time by Hassan Whiteside

The Miami Heat had been making New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis’ night pretty rough on national television on Wednesday night. Going into the fourth quarter, the lanky Latvian had already whiffed on a dunk and been jammed on by Heat power forward Chris Bosh. His night only got worse in the final 12 minutes of action, though, as Miami center Hassan Whiteside added insult to injury.

In that fourth quarter, Dwyane Wade was initiating the offense out of the pick-and-roll with Whiteside. When the center rolled to the rim, Wade threw him a lob and Porzingis tried to meet him at the summit and deny him. That did not work out in favor of the rookie:

If someone wants to send a care package to Porzingis down in Miami, that might not be the worst thing; he probably needs it after a night like tonight.

This is a lesson that the young Latvian needs to learn. On some nights in this league, you’re the next big thing and the next superstar of the league. On other nights such as Wednesday, you’re Shawn Bradley. That’s just the ups and downs of the job.
