WWE superstar John Cena is having shoulder surgery just a couple of weeks after his return to action
John Cena missed essentially two months of action for WWE while he was filming a reality show, but made his return on the Dec. 28 episode of Monday Night RAW to take on Alberto Del Rio. However, Cena was noticeably absence from this past week’s RAW and now fans might have an unfortunate answer as to why.
On Wednesday night, Cena took to Twitter to announce the bad news that he is having shoulder surgery on Thursday with the obvious implication being that he is going to miss quite a bit more time as he recovers from the surgery:
Rather upside down start to 2016 as tomorrow I will head to Birmingham for shoulder surgery. Life's full of set backs but #nevergiveup

Anytime Cena is injured, it’s a big deal for WWE. However, this may be even bigger of a deal considering the timing of the shoulder injury. The Royal Rumble is just weeks away and that means that WWE is just a few months away from WrestleMania 32. Not having the company’s biggest star for that even would be an enormous deal.
It wouldn’t just be an enormous deal because of the fact that it’s ‘Mania, but also because this WrestleMania is supposed to be the biggest of all time as the company is looking to fill AT&T Stadium in Dallas. With the possibility of Cena not being on that card, one has to wonder if they’ll be able to do that.
We still don’t have any timetable or anything of the sort about Cena’s shoulder surgery, but that he’s having at all at this point in WWE’s schedule makes it something to keep a close eye on.
