Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving finished a lay-up masterfully against the Wizards
The Cleveland Cavaliers are finally back at full strength in terms of personnel with no return being more substantial to their plight than that of All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. It’s taken a handful of games for the Cavs guard to get his legs back under him, but the Washington Wizards found out that he’s getting there quite quickly.
On Wednesday night as Kyrie was coming off of his best game since his return to action, the Cavs were trying to pull away from the Wizards in the second quarter. That’s when Irving attacked off the dribble and unleashed an absolutely absurd move in the air to finish at the rim, complete with a little English being put on the ball:
Physics would like a word with Kyrie about how he was able to pull that off.
There are so many things that Irving does well on a basketball court, but his ability to finish at the rim from the point guard position is near unparalleled around the league. As absurd as this finish against the Wizards is, it’s something that we’ve seen him do (or close to it) on numerous occasions.
For the Cavaliers as a whole, the return of Irving and Kyrie in turn getting back into form is so huge. They’ve stayed atop the Eastern Conference without them, but a healthy Kyrie gives them a chance to just run away with things and unleash their full fury on the rest of the league—and, potentially, allows them to better challenge the Golden State Warriors down the line.
