Kansas City Chiefs’ cornerback Marcus Peters already thinks he’s the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Marcus Peters is truly a wonderful player. Both Peters and Ronald Darby of the Buffalo Bills have taken the NFL by storm as rookie corner backs, and now, the confident Kansas City Chiefs’ player has signed a jersey with the words “2015 DROY”. Now that is some statement.

The jersey has been up for sale on eBay and is already generating buzz thanks to one little detail that Peters signed next to his autograph.

Peters is in the conversation for Rookie of the Year, never mind Defensive Rookie of the Year. Along with Todd Gurley and Jameis Winston, Peters has truly looked like the best rookie out of the 2015 draft class. He has been utterly wonderful for the Kansas City Chiefs, and looks as though he may become one of the top corner backs in the NFL.

For however good his play has been in his first year in pro football, it pales into insignificance in comparison to the confidence of the young man. This confidence, almost arrogance and cockiness, is evidenced by his latest escapades. Confidence in your ability is crucial in today’s NFL. However, this may be a step too far.

Naming yourself Defensive Rookie of the Year is rather unusual, and extremely confident. However, Peters has the credentials to prove it. He has eight interceptions on the year, tying the NFL lead, has been voted to the Pro Bowl, all while being targeted more than any other corner back since records began.

That’s impressive, and Peters clearly believes his performances merit him the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
