6. Matt Cassel

Cassel came to the Chiefs in 2009 when general manager Scott Pioli traded a pair of second-round picks for the former New England Patriots quarterback. Many believed that the Chiefs were getting an incredible deal, when in fact they were being robbed blind by Bill Belichick.

Cassel did get to the Pro Bowl in 2010 as an alternate while leading Kansas City to its first AFC West title since 2010. However, Cassel was terrible in the Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens and was never the same afterwards, having miserable season after miserable season. The Chiefs finally cut bait when general manager John Dorsey was brought in, signaling the end of another depressing era in Kansas City.

5. Steve Bono

When Joe Montana walked away from the game in 1994, Steve Bono took over the helm for the Chiefs. Despite many predicting that the team would fall apart with such a huge, drastic, massive dropoff at quarterback, Bono was able to help Kansas City reach a 13-3 record and the first seed in 1995.

Of course, Bono played like hot garbage in the AFC Divisional playoffs against the Indianapolis Colts, throwing three interceptions and being benched in the fourth quarter for Rich Gannon. Bono was the starter again in 1996 and played, again, like hot garbage. Finally, he was exiled from Kansas City, leading to the great debate between Rich Gannon and Elvis Grbac.
