The San Francisco 49ers are looking for a coach but David Shaw will not be an option.

At the end of every NFL regular season when the underwhelming head coaches are fired from their positions, there are always whispers of some teams making a run at Stanford Cardinal head coach David Shaw. This year, though, the talk was a little more prevalent because there just so happens to be a job open in the bay area with the San Francisco 49ers. Some were of the belief that maybe a move to the NFL that’s close to where he is now might change his mind about spurning offers from the NFL.

Well, not exactly.

According to a report from the San Jose Mercury News Shaw currently has no plans to interview with the team in regards to their vacancy, so you can take him off the short list of candidates.

Time and time again we’ve seen teams inquire about Shaw, who just won yet another Rose Bowl with the Cardinal, and every single time he ends up expressing his desire to stay right where he is in Palo Alto. As these denials start to pile up over the years, we’re all just going to have to start believing that Shaw is indeed dead set on staying put for a while.

The only part of the NFL that he will sniff is with his appearances on the NFL Network during the NFL Draft — that’s it.

Or he could have, like most, realized that the 49ers are a complete dumpster fire at the moment and said, “No thanks, I’m good.”
