Kobe Bryant is in the middle of his swan song with the Los Angeles Lakers and he always seems to be in the headlines for more bad things than good these days. There’s been a lot of two for 20 games and clanked jumpshots that have been very difficult to watch. The worst of it has been the Lakers putting their aging superstars priorities over some of the youth Los Angeles has on the roster.
However, every once in awhile it’s all worth it. Tonight, it was all worth it.
VINTAGEEEEEEE KOBEEEEEEEEEEE! Once in a blue moon Bryant will give us just what we’ve always wanted. A scoring burst. A fadeaway jumpshot. Something to remind us that there was once a time he did this on a nightly basis. Well in Thursday’s game against the Sacramento Kings he went throwback Thursday on everybody with an alley-oop dunk.
It’s not the greatest dunk of his career. Heck, it’s not his greatest dunk in the last five years. His head barely reaches the net, and his hands are justtttt high enough to catch and throw the thing down. Except none of that technical stuff matters, because seeing Kobe dunk at all is enough to get you out of your seat and start yelling in your living room.
Kobe’s old, and not very good anymore, but these vintage Kobe moments make his swan song season worth every minute.
