The Denver Broncos have announced that Peyton Manning will start in the divisional round of the playoffs.

It has been a topsy turvy year for the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning in particular. After starting out 6-0 the Broncos were on fire, defensively at least, and looking like one of the best teams in the NFL. Their success, however, was not due to their future Hall of Fame quarterback; it was in spite of him.

Manning was playing horribly, and hurt, and after a battering at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, was dropped in favor of Brock Osweiler. Since then, the Broncos offense has spluttered into gear, sometimes looking good and at other times, looking like the Cleveland Browns. Osweiler has performed admirably in Manning’s stead, but did convince enough people that he was the man to take the Broncos forward in the postseason.

It was in Week 17, when the San Diego Chargers pushed the Broncos close with Denver chasing the No. 1 seed in the AFC that Osweiler’s play off hopes were drowned. With the Broncos struggling on offense, Manning came back into the game and led the offense to a comeback win and secure the No. 1 seed.

With Manning back in the fray, the question on everybody’s lips has been who will start for the Broncos come the divisional round. Well, that question has now been answered, with Manning set to start.

Manning looked decent in Weel 17 return, and it will be interesting to see if he can resurrect a struggling offense at such a crucial time.
