According to a report, Chip Kelly met with the Alabama Crimson Tide‘s coaching staff earlier this week.

Chip Kelly is in search of a new job after being fired and many expect him to go back to the college ranks.

By being such a polarizing figure in football, anything that Kelly does in his life draws attention. In an interesting move, Chip Kelly met earlier this week with the Alabama Crimson Tide coaching staff as they get ready to take on the Clemson Tigers in the National Championship, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

While Chip Kelly and Alabama in the same sentence is sure to raise some eyebrows, this is one of those classic “nothing to see here” ordeals in all likelihood.

As CBS Sports noted, Kelly has spent his entire career meeting up with other coaches and bouncing ideas off each other.

"What does it mean? Probably that Kelly enjoys spending time with other football coaches and exchanging ideas. It’s something that Kelly has done throughout his time as a coach and right now there are few places with more highly regarded staffs than the one Nick Saban has assembled in Tuscaloosa."

This is nothing new between coaches and former head coach Charlie Weis hanging out at Alabama games proves that coaches around the league hang around with other coaches all the time.

If Kelly is coming back to college, he isn’t coming back to be a coordinator. While the NFL didn’t work out for him, his style of play is something that several colleges will be after in their pursuit of him.

His next college job will be a top one in the country and nothing less. Kelly meeting up with Alabama isn’t implicating anything between the two sides, other than an exchanging of thoughts and ideas.

It happens all the time in sports between coaches.
