Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp has refuted a report that said the Aggies were looking to fire Kevin Sumlin.

The story revolving around Texas A&M football continues to get more strange with each passing turn.

After the school lost two five-star quarterbacks and were trending downward, there was a report out from Horns Digest and reporter Chip Brown, stating that Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp was looking to remove Sumlin as head coach of the Aggies.

Sharp has now come out and has quickly refuted those reports and he even put Brown on blast as he denied the rumors of him wanting to get rid of Sumlin.

"“Austin-based sports blogger Chip Brown’s last attempt to report on Texas A&M football, on December 17, 2015, was apparently only the first in a series of fairy tales he intends to spin,” the statement began. “Chancellor John Sharp made it clear to another reporter (Brent Zwerneman) that Brown’s speculation about him trying to get Kevin Sumlin fired was indeed a fairy tale. And there is no one more unethical than a reporter who has been embarrassed by being called out for misstating information who then decides to seek revenge. This new report — a fairy tale on steroids — seems to be Chip Brown’s attempt at revenge.”"

Sharp held back no punches clearly with his statement. Combining the words fairy tale and steroids and then calling out Brown’s ethics in his reporting really show just how far Sharp went with his statement.

The Aggies haven’t been getting any better since Sumlin’s initial season, but they also have a good talent pool and are certainly looking better after it was announced that former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Trevor Knight would be transferring to the program.

While that certainly doesn’t put to rest the Sumlin situation, his reported interest in the NFL and the fact that their AD just stepped down, it is probably a safe bet that Sumlin is the guy going into 2016 with signing day and spring ball near. However, should the Aggies under-perform in 2016, then the questions will surely rise again.

As for any reports that are out there right now about the school removing Sumlin, Sharp isn’t having it and he’s not holding back against those who report such.
