The Atlanta Hawks don’t exactly appear here on The Friendly Bounce that often. Considering that dunks, blocks, flashy passes and dribbling exhibitions typically constitute much of the highlights that people often gravitate towards, the Hawks group of solid but quiet players just don’t fit that mold.

On Thursday night though, the Hawks were out to prove they can be fun even without the blocks and dunks that other teams have. It started at the end of the first quarter, when the Hawks pinged the ball around the floor in just five seconds to beat the quarter ending buzzer with a three from Mike Scott.

That shot gave the Hawks the lead at the end of the first quarter of play despite a bit of a slow start. It also continued a big Atlanta run which helped them jump out to a 61-44 halftime lead. One of the highlights of that second quarter was yet another sequence of quick, decisive and dizzying ball movement that led to another three.

Both possessions were nice reminders of how fun the simple parts of basketball can be when done correctly, something that teams besides the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs can do.
