The Dallas Stars have rewarded their General Manager Jim Nill with an extension.

The Dallas Stars announced a five year extension to General Manager Jim Nill to remain as the man in charge for the hockey club on Friday.

Nill, age 57, arrived in Dallas in 2013 after years of learning with the Detroit Red Wings. He has built a championship caliber team in a short time. His first big move was hiring Lindy Ruff to be their coach. Then his next biggest moves were acquiring Jason Spezza from the Ottawa Senators and Tyler Seguin from the Boston Bruins. He was able to add goaltender Antti Niemi from the San Jose Sharks as well as defenseman Johnny Oduya and forward Patrick Sharp from the Chicago Blackhawks, this past summer.

The Stars have an abundance of talent on their roster causing opponents fits. Spezza, Seguin and Sharp are in the top five in scoring on the hockey club. In the first 43 games this season, the trio has 54 goals and 66 assists for 120 points combined. Goalie Niemi has a record of 16-7-4, to go along with three shutouts  in 28 games played.

Dallas has looked pretty impressive this season. They have 29 victories and are the current leaders of the Western Conference and second place overall behind the Washington Capitals in the entire league. The hockey club has won 17 of their first 21 home games at the American Airlines Center.

Everything appears to be clicking right now. They have made a series of successful trades and extending Nill until the 2022-23 season is another feather in their cap.

They are strong contenders for the Stanley Cup this spring and keeping Nill will allow the Dallas Stars to inch closer to success.
