5. Emergence of Stefon Diggs

The Vikings have struggled to find a true No. 1 receiver since Randy Moss left town in 2005. Three times since then the organization has used a first-round draft pick on a wideout, and all three times have been miscues. Troy Williamson struggled with drops, Percy Harvin struggled with injuries, and Cordarrelle Patterson has struggled with just about everything.

Luckily for the Vikes, rookie fifth-rounder Stefon Diggs came out of nowhere to make an instant impact this season. After being inactive for the first three games of the season, Diggs finally got his chance to play in Week 4 against Denver after Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright were sidelined with injuries.

And the 22-year-old never looked back. Quickly becoming Teddy Bridgewater’s favorite target, Diggs became the first rookie wide receiver in NFL history to have at least 87 yards in his first four games, and finished the season ranked third among rookie receivers in receiving yards and fifth in touchdowns.

He’ll get his chance to square up against another rookie wideout sensation this weekend when Seattle’s Tyler Lockett comes to town.
