European tour golfer David Howell has taken his shirt off to take a water hazard shot.
This is one of the more peculiar stories that you will read this year. A European tour golfer, David Howell, took his shirt off to take a shot from a water hazard. The opening of the 2016 European tour was being hosted in South Africa, and after a fairly wayward tee shot, Howell found himself in a rather large spot of bother.
Amid fears he may spray mud all over his clothes, Howell then thought that the best thing to do would be to play the shot shirtless. The things you do reduce your laundry!! Howell’s bare-chested shot was nothing in comparison to fellow European golfer Henrik Stenson, however, who stripped all the way down to his underwear to play a rather tricky shot at the 2009 WGC Cadillac Championship.

Brandon Stone and Daniel Brooks currently share the lead of the heavily interrupted South African Open saw the third round suspended early due to fears of thunderstorms. Englishman Brooks was already one of the players who had to get up early to complete their second rounds because of similar stormy weather and a suspension on the second day in Johannesburg. He was 1 under through nine holes of his third round to be 10 under overall.
Five-time champion Ernie Els missed the cut by a shot after finishing his second round earlier Saturday and being the biggest name in the competition, it is a disappointment to not see him over the weekend. None of these players, however, can say they have given as much to the game of golf as Mr. Howell.
