Jacksonville State cornerback Jaylen Hill came up with an unreal interception and big play in the FCS title game
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks were getting taken to the woodshed for most of the first half of the FCS National Championship game against the four-time defending champion North Dakota State Bison. As the Bison were looking to extend their lead even further right before halftime, though, junior Jacksonville State cornerback Jaylen Hill came up with a huge and undeniably incredible defensive play.
NDSU quarterback Carson Wentz had been lighting up Jacksonville State for most of the first game and tried to go deep with under a minute to play in the second quarter. However, his attempt was broken up and tipped into the air by Hill in coverage. However, the junior defensive back kept his wits about him, found the ball in the air, and dove to make an incredible interception to end the drive and scoring threat for the Bison:

There wasn’t enough time for Jacksonville State to capitalize on the turnover, but just taking the ball out of North Dakota State’s hands was a big enough achievement. The Gamecocks went into the locker room trailing 24-0 at halftime, but Hill’s interception kept things at least semi manageable as they’ll look to come back in the second half.
