Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has stated that he will look to add to his squad in the January transfer window.

It has been a turbulent season to say the least for Louis Van Gaal. Brought in two seasons ago to resurrect Manchester United from the David Moyes era, Van Gaal has not quite performed to the level that many expected of the world-renowned manager. Van Gaal has been given a serious transfer kitty since arriving at Old Trafford.

He has spent a lot of money on players like Angel Di Maria, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Marcos Rojo. Unfortunately for the Dutchman, many of his signings have been an utter disappointment, and Di Maria is no longer at the club after just one year. Well, now he has stated that he wishes to add to his depleted squad throughout the January transfer window.

Writing in his programme notes against Sheffield United in the FA Cup, Van Gaal states:

"“January brings the opening of the transfer window and, as I have already seen, we have been linked to a host of players. I don’t see January as the ideal time to do business as the players cannot then have the pre-season that I feel they need to be integrated into the squad, both on and off the pitch. However, if I and the coaches feel that something can be done to improve the current squad then that is something we will look at if the opportunity does arise.”"

Van Gaal has been utterly wasteful with much of the money he has been given so far. Manchester United have said, unwisely, that they will back him again, and it will be interesting to see who he tries to bring to Old Trafford.
