Mario Gotze has denied reports linking him with a possible move to Liverpool.

It has been an inconsistent season for Liverpool to say the least. While they have looked brilliant at times under new head coach, Jurgen Klopp, they have failed to prove themselves on a regular basis. However, with the German tactician now at the helm, reports from across the pond have begun to circulate that he could use his influence to bring important players to the club during the January transfer window.

One of the names most discussed with a possible Anfield arrival, is that of Mario Gotze. The German international spent four seasons plying his trade under Klopp with Borussia Dortmund, and many believe a reunion between the two could be in the works.

However, in an interview with TZ, the talented 23-year-old confirmed that he wants to stay at his current club and that there was no merit to the reports connecting him to a Anfield move.

"“I can rule out a move to Liverpool this winter,” Gotze said. “I don’t know where the rumors about Klopp and me are coming from. I have not heard anything. You should ask Klopp if he wants me at Liverpool. If he wants me, he should approach me."

Despite his youthful age, Gotze has a plethora of experience. Not only did he score the goal that won his country the 2014 World Cup, he has also won four Bundesliga titles, and a Club World Cup. According to the midfielder, he has already started looking forward to live under Bayern Munich’s next head coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

"“I have spoken about Ancelotti with Kroos and he only had good things to say,” he said. “I have had Klopp, [Joachim] Low and Guardiola as my coaches before. There could be worse coaches than those four."

Gotze has been out since October with a groin injury, and is hoping to be back in the Bayern lineup after the winter break.
