Adrian Peterson fumbled at the worst possible time for the Vikings in the NFC Wild Card game

The Minnesota Vikings had control of their NFC Wild Card matchup with the Seattle Seahawks through the first three quarters, even with their only scoring coming from three Blair Walsh field goals. However, things started to fall apart in the fourth quarter after a Seahawks touchdown pulled them within two points. Then Adrian Peterson only made things worse for the home team.

Peterson caught a short pass on the right side of the field on the drive after the Seattle score and took the run after the catch past the first-down marker. However, when the Seahawks defense collapsed on him in the open field, he coughed up the football and sent it flying in the air where the Seahawks recovered:

A turnover in itself is costly against this Seattle team, but it proved even more costly as Russell Wilson and company took the prime opportunity in the fourth quarter to move the ball a little down the field and then kick a field goal to go ahead 10-9.

Peterson has long had issues with his ball security, really one of the few knocks on his stellar abilities as an NFL running back. If this score holds, though, this fumble could prove to be the most costly turnover of his career.
