AFC Wildcard Weekend schedule has been set
The AFC Wildcard Weekend schedule has been now been set.
Saturday was quite an event. In the early slate of games, the Kansas City Chiefs exorcised their playoff demons by beating the Houston Texans. It was the first playoff victory for the Chiefs since Joe Montana was under center way back in the early 1990s.
In the nightcap, the Cincinnati Bengals effectively beat themselves to continue their playoff losing streak. No, this isn’t the tired narrative of “the Steelers didn’t win; the Bengals lost,” Cincinnati actually handed the game to Pittsburgh in the waning seconds. Two moronic penalties afforded Pittsburgh 30 yards and turned what would’ve been a 50-yard field goal into a chip-shot game-winner. Different year, same futility in Cincy.
Spinning forward, here’s what we’re looking at for Wildcard Weekend in the AFC.
Saturday
Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots – 4:30 p.m.
Sunday
Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos – 4:00 p.m.
Kansas City’s defense was absolutely electric on Saturday, and afforded the Chiefs’ offense time to get rolling. Now they’ll try to down a potentially dangerous New England team looking to get healthy.
As for the Sunday game, we’re potentially looking at a game between two banged up quarterbacks. Peyton Manning will limp out to start for the Broncos, and lord only knows what Ben Roethlisberger’s shoulder will look like after getting all kinds of banged around against the Bengals. There will be storylines galore.
