During a campaign stop in Reno, Nevada, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed that football is now soft.

Donald Trump is probably the Vontaze Burfict of presidential candidates. He probably supports the way that Burfict played against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Cincinnati Bengals‘ playoff defeat.

During a campaign stop on his presidential bid in Reno, Nevada, Trump decided to lash out at football and talk about his issues with the way they promote safety.

Trump isn’t a big fan of the way the league is trying to protect the players’ brains and misses the old days of violent hits, which have led to the unfortunate deaths of many great former players.

He used the game between the Bengals and Steelers as an example of how soft the game has become in his speech.

"So I’m watching the game yesterday. What used to be considered a great tackle, a violent, head-on, violent. If that was done by Dick Butkus, they’d say he’s the greatest player… if that was done by Lawrence Taylor, it WAS done by Lawrence Taylor and Dick Butkus!…and Ray Nitschke, right? You used to see these tackles, and it was incredible to watch. Now they [effeminate voice] tackle.. head on head collision… fifteen yard penalty. The whole game is all screwed up!"

His speech was basically to tie in football into how he believes that America has become soft. Like many things that Trump has said at will, this one is just as highly unintelligible as the others.

After the studies of CTE that have come out from repeated head trauma and the deaths of many former players, it’s clear that league has to continue working on ensuring the safety of players going forward so that they don’t end up brain dead.

Don’t tell that to Trump however. He prefers his football with guys getting taken off the field on stretchers and potentially put into the grave.
