Ravens vs. Broncos (2012 AFC Divisional)

You know what’s a heartbreaking way to lose in the NFL playoffs? A ridiculous Hail Mary pass that might or might not have had divine intervention.

The Denver Broncos lost to the Baltimore Ravens in overtime in the second round of the NFL playoffs in 2012 despite having the Ravens right where they wanted them. The Broncos had the lead with under a minute left, and then it happened. The Mile High Miracle that wound up propelling the Ravens to their second Super Bowl title. It forever game the Denver fans a reason to remember safety Rahim Moore.

Joe Flacco heaved the ball down the field for Jacoby Jones, hoping that he would draw a defensive pass interference penalty. Moore was in a good position to intercept the ball or at least bat it down, but completely misjudged the pass and allowed Jones to catch it before sprinting into the end zone. It was one of the craziest plays in NFL history and stunned the capacity crowd at Sports Authority Field.

It ruined a great chance for the Broncos to return to the Super Bowl and win Peyton Manning his second Super Bowl. Perhaps there was divine intervention at hand that day. The 2012 Ravens were, after all, a team of destiny.
