After converting an onside kick, Alabama quickly took a fourth-quarter lead on Clemson.

Tonight’s College Football Playoff National Championship game has been a wild one. Alabama and Clemson have been going back and forth to determine the new National Champion inside the University of Phoenix Stadium.

In the fourth quarter, Alabama drove down field following a beautiful pass from quarterback Jake Coker to set up a field goal to tie the game at 24-24.

On the ensuing kickoff, Clemson assumed that Alabama would just kick it away. However, they converted a stunning onside kick to give the ball right back to the Crimson Tide.

A short time after getting back on offense, Coker hit tight end O.J. Howard with a 51-yard touchdown pass to take the lead, 31-24.

A field goal on the next drive from Clemson made the game 31-27.

Clemson left Howard wide open to set up this huge score to give Alabama the lead. This was Howard’s second touchdown catch of the night to give him 145 yards on four receptions.

Now Alabama will have to work to keep the lead on Clemson. With time going down in the 4th quarter, they will need to hold back the Tigers to get to yet another National Championship win under head coach Nick Saban.
