John Calipari denies asking for big contract from Brooklyn Nets
Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari has denied making big contract demands from the Brooklyn Nets.
It seems like there is always a new John Calipari to the NBA rumor that is always popping up. With the success that he has with the Kentucky Wildcats and the amount of talent that he puts in the NBA every year, there’s always a report out that links him to some job in the league.
The latest report came from the very reliable Adrian Wojnarowski, which stated that John Calipari made very high demands to the Brooklyn Nets if they wanted him to be their new head coach. According to the report, Calipari demanded $120 million over 10 years to coach in Brooklyn.
Calipari once coached the Nets, so it’s easy to see why the dots are connected between the two sides, but Calipari once again denied the rumors about him on Twitter.
Calipari is right about his job at Kentucky. There are few in sports that are better than his and he has job security for life as the head coach of the illustrious program.
He consistently gets the top talent to Kentucky every year and they are always in the National Championship picture as a program. To get him to leave the program that he has had great success with him would take an astronomical financial amount plus the fact that he would actually want to leave somewhere where he is guaranteed to win every year.
The Nets are going to go all in financially for a new head coach. They know they have a lot to fix in Brooklyn and that it’s going to take time to turn things around as a franchise. Even if that means chasing a head coach that they used to have decades ago with a lot of money.
The reports might say that Calipari has high demands to leave Kentucky, but Calipari himself is denying those reports.
