While many were disappointed with the number of blowouts, the 2015 bowl season produced some great team performances.
The 2015 college football bowl season is officially in the books, so it’s time to reflect on some of the great performances of the past few weeks.
This year’s postseason was defined by some massive beatdowns in a few of the top-billed games. In particular, the New Year’s Six offered nothing but blowouts, as no game was closer than the 38-24 contest between the Houston Cougars and Florida State Seminoles in the Peach Bowl.
Fortunately, a few games, such as the Alamo and Pinstripe Bowls, were able to salvage the bowl season, and it was all capped off by a thrilling, 45-40 win for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the title game. Still, just about every college football fan is going to hope for some closer New Year’s Six games next time around.
At the same time, those blowouts gave us a chance to witness some truly complete team performances during the bowl season. The Stanford Cardinal and Ole Miss Rebels were among the teams who simply gave their opponents no chance in a big bowl game from the very start, while both Alabama and Clemson put together impressive victories and pulled away in the second half in their respective semifinal contests.
While quite a few teams put together dominating all-around performances, these five stand out as the best efforts of the 2015 bowl season.
