Alex Anthopoulos officially named VP, Baseball Operations with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers went ahead and made it official — Alex Anthopoulos has officially joined the franchise as the Vice President of Baseball Operations.

At the age of 38, he joins the Dodgers organization after years of work with the Toronto Blue Jays. Anthopoulos joins the historic organization with other former GM’s that are currently within the Dodgers front office.

The Dodgers have stated publicly in a press release that Anthopoulos will be assisting in baseball operations working closely with team President Andrew Friedman. General Manager Farhan Zaidi and Josh Byrnes, senior Vice President of baseball operations, will also work with Anthopoulos.

Anthopoulos comes to Los Angeles after a number of years with the Montreal Expos team before moving to work with the Blue Jays. He joined the Blue Jays in 2003 and worked under former General Manager J.P. Riccardi before taking over as the man in charge in 2009. He worked well as the boss and this past season he helped lead Toronto to the playoffs for the first time in 22 seasons. He is considered to be a fantastic man at completing successful trades. He made two huge moves in the winter of 2012 with the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets with Mark Buehrle and R.A. Dickey being his key acquisitions. In 2015, he was able to work his magic again. He acquired David Price from the Detroit Tigers, Ben Revere from the Philadelphia Phillies and Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies.

The Dodgers finished last season with a record of 92-70, 8 complete games ahead of the San Francisco Giants and 13 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The National League West has been primarily a race for the division crown with these three teams.

There are no negatives to bringing Anthopoulos to Los Angeles!
