PF. Phoenix Suns. Markieff Morris. 4. player. 66.

The Cavaliers could use a power forward option like Markieff Morris. Obviously, he comes with some fairly significant baggage. He has fallen out of favor with the Phoenix Suns and part of it is likely due to them trading his brother Marcus to the Detroit Pistons. He has struggled this season. The Cavaliers could be intrigued by his relatively cheap contract and his term.

After playing 31.5 minutes per game for the Suns in 2014-2015, Morris has seen his playing time cut by almost ten minutes to 22.7 minutes per game. He remains productive with 10.1 points per game and 16.1 points per 36 minutes. The Cavs could use an athletic power forward like Morris and they likely have the cap space to be able to at least see if Morris can be productive off the bench.

It likely wouldn’t require that much to get Morris. He is due $24,000,000 over the next three seasons. Should the Cavs be willing to take a huge risk, Morris is one that could payoff big time. Morris’s arrival could mean the departure or further minute crunching of Anderson Varejao, who is very close to LeBron James. That’s another dynamic of this trade that must be evaluated. However, James would likely sign off on it if he believes that Morris would help them win games better than Varejao, who has been relegated to mop-up duty.
