38. . SF. Orlando Magic. Channing Frye. 2. player

Channing Frye was already rumored to be a target for the Cavaliers before the season began. The reason for that? The Cavs might have some very solid depth at power forward and center, but one of their issues is that Kevin Love is their only stretch four. Adding Frye would give the Cavs a second stretch four and make them an even more lethal team.

Here’s the trick part: He’s still under contract for the next two seasons after this one and he’s likely a bench player at this point. He has fell out of favor with the Orlando Magic, playing just 18.3 minutes per game this season. He has, however, been more efficient with less minutes this season than he was with more minutes last season. He averaged 15.0 points per 100 possessions in 2014-2015 and is averaging 16.3 points per 100 possessions in 2015-2016. ‘

The Cavs would most likely not want to burn Heywood’s exemption for Frye. That’s something that they’d like to save for someone like Martin or Morris. Trading for Frye could prove to be too difficult a task for the Cavs and their league-high payroll, but trading for him would certainly something that would give the Cavaliers what they’ve needed since last season: another big man who can shoot. And it’s hard to believe that the Magic wouldn’t love to get rid of Frye.
