Eric Dickerson welcomes the Rams back to Los Angeles
NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson is very excited to see his old team returning to town.
The big news of Tuesday night is the done deal that is the St. Louis Rams moving back to Los Angeles for next season. Ownership had been called for the move for a few months and it seems that it will finally happen after a vote that took place earlier this evening. The San Diego Chargers have the option of joining them by Jan. 2017 to potentially share a stadium in Inglewood, CA.
For those who don’t know, the Rams played in Los Angeles from 1946 to 1994, playing in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and at Anaheim Stadium before moving to St. Lous, MO. before the 1995 season. Their greatest player during the LA run was arguably NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson. He played there for four-plus seasons before going being traded in 1987.
With the news coming out a short time ago, Dickerson would take to Twitter to welcome back his old team.
LA will indeed be home for the Rams for the long-term, as they will return to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before getting a new stadium.
This will bring back great memories for fans who watched the Rams play in California over the years and it will spark interest in football in one of the largest cities in the United States in over twenty years.
