Aaron Rodgers bought some Powerball tickets and if he wins he wants to buy an NHL team
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers bought Powerball tickets for its record prize of $1,500,000,000. He already makes in excess of $20,000,000 a season so why does he want to win the Powerball?
Because he wants to buy an NHL team.
“[If I won the Powerball], I’d buy an NHL team,” Aaron Rodgers said, via ESPN.
Which NHL teams could Rodgers buy? Let’s assume he takes the cash prize because that’s the only way he’d be able to get that kind of money up front. The cash payout is worth roughly $900,000,000. That eliminates the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and Chicago Blackhawks. They each are valued at over $900,000,000 and the first three teams mentioned are valued at over $1,000,000,000.
He could, in theory, buy any other team assuming that the selling price was the team’s value. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been rumored to be looking for a buyer for quite some time. So have the Carolina Hurricanes.
Whatever team Rodgers buys, he might want to move the team to Wisconsin at some point down the road. The Milwaukee Discount Double Checkers might be a good name.
