Arizona Coyotes All-Star John Scott sent to American Hockey League

The NHL All-Star festivities occurs later this month at the Bridgestone Arena, the home of the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators. The players were recently announced and it was proclaimed that there will be four captains in the new tournament. The four captains will be Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, Jaromir Jagr of the Florida Panthers, Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals and the biggest shocker of them all….. Arizona Coyotes forward John Scott.

According to thescore.com and Sportsnet’s John Shannon, the Coyotes were active earlier today. The club claimed defenseman Kevin Connauton from the Columbus Blue Jackets off of waivers and sent their all-star forward, Scott, to the American Hockey League.

There is still more to this story as it was reported by Sarah McLellan, on Twitter that the Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett hopes to have Connauton ready for the game tomorrow and plan to have Scott back on the roster by Friday.

Scott has a single assist in 11 games this season and barely over six minutes of ice time. Scott has played in 285 career regular season games with the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers prior to playing in Arizona. He has never been an All-Star with any of these organizations, prior to this year. This event in Nashville will be his first and only NHL All-Star appearance. He has 11 career points.

The National Hockey League is trying to change how players are elected into the annual All-Star festivities. There are rumors that the NHL is planning to assess how fans select players. It is very probable that this possible change is because of Scott’s nomination.
