The New York Giants will reportedly hire Ben McAdoo as their new head coach.

It appears as the search for the New York Giants’ new head coach has come to a close. According to Ian Rapoport, the team has decided on just promoting offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo to the position.

There were a lot of names tied to the job, seeing as it is indeed the Giants, one of the more notable franchises in the NFL. Not to mention, the person would be taking over for a man who won two Super Bowls for the franchise in Tom Coughlin.

However, Rapoport had quite the interesting theory as to why, of all the people that may have been interested in the job, they settled on their offensive coordinator.

That would certainly make all the sense in the world, as you can see where they wouldn’t want him to walk on over to the NFC East rival and have it come back to bite them in the end.

McAdoo joined the Giants’ staff as offensive coordinator in 2014 following what was his second stint with the Green Bay Packers. All things considered, he has done a good job with the unit, as the defense is really the issue that needs to be addressed when it comes to the Giants. Whether or not he can effectively address that remains to be seen.

But as far as the offense with Eli Manning and company, they shouldn’t be skipping a beat, which ultimately isn’t a bad thing. Instead of the big name hire, the Giants are keeping a man the offense –which has some pretty prominent players– is more than comfortable with.
