The Chargers hired Ken Whisenhunt, again.

Back together again and it feels so good. The San Diego Chargers were in the market for a new offensive coordinator after firing Frank Reich this offseason, and they landed their man in Ken Whisenhunt, per the San Diego Union-Tribune. Oddly enough, Whisenhunt was the Chargers offensive coordinator in 2013 before landing a head coaching gig with the Tennessee Titans, which lasted 1.5 seasons.

Whisenhunt has enjoyed a tremendous NFL career, barring that disaster in Tennessee. He originally got his start in Baltimore as the tight ends coach with the Ravens in 1997 and eventually worked his way up to offensive coordinator with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he won a Super Bowl in 2005. Whisenhunt then became the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2007-12, reaching the Super Bowl for the first and only time in franchise history.

Whisenhunt was able to help guide the Chargers to a playoff berth in his only year with the club. He should be able to provide a boost to a team with some nice pieces, featuring Philip Rivers, Danny Woodhead, Melvin Gordon, Antonio Gates and Keenan Allen. This year, San Diego finished 4-12 and in last place of the tough AFC West.
