Things got tense between the Thunder‘s Russell Westbrook and the Mavericks‘ J.J. Barea and Charlie Villanueva.

Anytime two playoff teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder get on the court together, there is going to be some competitive basketball and some chippy behavior on the court. The two teams don’t like each other and have had several epic battles over the years.

Russell Westbrook and J.J. Barea are two players that have faced off against each other on many occasions. The two also got tangled on the court and got into it against each other on Wednesday night.

After Barea fouled Westbrook on a shot, the two started flailing arms at each other and the Mavericks’ Charlie Villanueva came in and put his hand around the throat of Westbrook, who promptly swiped it away.

With a couple of light swings and Villanueva putting his hands on Westbrook’s throat, there’s certainly going to be some discipline handed down from the league after this one. After all, this one got more heated than it should and it’s clear that that things were going to get worse if refs and other players didn’t step in.

These two teams have never liked each other and Westbrook is no stranger to mixing it up with other players on the court. Add it all together, and it leads to something like this.
