Hue Jackson wants to start fresh, and move on from Johnny Manziel.

The Cleveland Browns met with Hue Jackson about filling their head coach vacancy on Wednesday, and Jackson said he would take the job if the Browns would be willing to move on from Johnny Manziel. Jackson said he was reassured that the organization has no problem moving on from Manziel.

Manziel was the 22nd-overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, and he was thought to be the future face of the Browns franchise. Manziel acted like he was still at the collegiate level after he was drafted, which caused some issues internally with the Browns. Manziel began his career by showing up late to meetings, skipping workouts, and he wasn’t prepared, as he was out continuing to live the college life style of partying and not taking on his responsibilities.

Manziel was looked at the savior of the Browns when he was drafted, but Manziel’s continuing statistics have made Browns fans grow weary. Manziel is 2-6 as a starting quarterback with the Browns, and his touchdown to interception ratio is one. Manziel has thrown seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in his two-year career, while throwing for 1,675 yards.

Manziel is still under contract with the Browns, so the most likely scenario in which he will be leaving Cleveland will be through a trade with a team that is willing to take on Manziel’s antics. The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted to draft Manziel out of college, but was talked out of it. The Cowboys could be a potential landing spot, as could the Houston Texans and the, now, Los Angeles Rams.
