Hot Stove season is starting to cool down, and the MLB regular season is getting closer and closer. So, what players could we see traded by the 2016 Trade Deadline?

Mid-season Major League Baseball trades seem so far away from this moment; winter is just starting to set in, and there are still free agents available. However, before we know it the season will be upon us. There will be teams that find themselves on the outside looking in by the time we reach the halfway point, which means that they will be looking to sell.

These teams will be looking to maximize their return on a player that is either well coveted by contending teams or will likely be leaving via free agency after the season. Last season saw players like Johnny Cueto, Ben Zobrist, and Yoenis Cespedes propel their new teams to the World Series after being traded by the team they broke spring training with.

So, with evidence suggesting that mid-season trade acquisitions can have a significant effect on a team’s chances to make the World Series, it is likely that teams will be lining up for the services of players made available by other franchises while the season marathon is still ongoing.

With the 2017 free agency pool being largely unimpressive, teams will be looking to upgrade at this point, to give them an advantage in 2016 and 2017 as well. There will be big names a plenty in discussion all season long. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at who could be traded this season.
