5. Marlon Byrd

Father time is catching up to Mr. Byrd but the thirty-eight year old still put together an impressive 2015 campaign with the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants, slugging 23 home runs, driving in 73 RBI, and hitting .247. The thirteen-year veteran was traded mid-season to the San Francisco Giants for their playoff push, he made an impact and stayed healthy but it wasn’t enough to propel the Giants to the playoffs. Byrd offers power and athleticism in the corner outfield spots and seems to be playing like a player in his twenties. During the 2014 season he registered 591 at-bats, hit .264, with 25 home runs and 85 RBI.

All sign’s point to another productive season for the veteran outfielder but you never know with players in their late thirties. Numbers don’t lie and Byrd continues to produce in the hitting categories and is continuing to play solid defense in both left and right field. The 2010 all-star would be an above-average fourth outfielder to any team and would be an average third outfielder. An incentive laden one-year deal would seem like a logical fit or a two-year low cost veteran’s deal to a contending club. The Pirates, Cardinals, Padres, A’s could potentially be possible fits.
