Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich made sure Tony Parker stopped walking so he could tell him ‘good job’
The San Antonio Spurs fell behind the Cleveland Cavaliers by a pretty sizeable margin in the first half on Thursday night. However, the Spurs chipped away at the lead in the fashion that they always seem to and point guard Tony Parker was a big part of that. Subsequently, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich felt really, really compelled to tell him such.
After a dead ball, Parker was trying to walk back up the floor when his head coach started trying to get his attention, calling out his initials in repetition. Once he finally got Parker’s attention, Popovich just wanted to let his point guard that he was doing nice work out on the floor:
Pop is seriously one of the greatest humans walking the earth right now. He always gets the reputation of being such a curmudgeon because of how he sometimes answers the media. However, he has one of the best senses of humor in all of sports and this is just yet another example of that. It’s not wonder that all of his players respect him the way he does. He’s the typical literary archetype come to life—the drill sergeant with a heart of gold.
