No. 20 Pittsburgh Panthers vs No. 21 Louisville Cardinals

After losing to Purdue in the fifth game of the year, the Pitt Panthers have reeled off 10 straight victories and are sitting in the top 25 with a chance to jump into the top 15, or so, range with a win on Thursday night. Starting ACC play with three wins over tough opponents is good for the NCAA Tournament resume, but a win at Louisville would top them all.

Junior forward Michael Young leads the team in both scoring and rebound and is, surprisingly, third in assists. He’s averaging 17.5 points and 6.8 rebounds with 2.8 assists sprinkled in. Fellow junior forward Jamel Artis is also having a good year, averaging 16.0 points 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. This team has a realistic shot at a conference title.

Louisville has already played two of the best teams in the country this season, Michigan State and Kentucky, and looks to use those losses as lessons for how to take down ranked opponents. However, coming off a tough loss at Clemson, the Cardinals seem to be looking for answers despite having an elite-level scorer like Damion Lee.

Lee is averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting about 47 percent from the field. He’s the kind of player who can put the team on his back and really carry the load, when needed. This team might not be as good as last year’s squad, with losses of Terry Rozier and Montrezl Harrell, but that doesn’t mean it’s not full of talent.
