According to a report, the Eagles will name Doug Pederson their next head coach when they are officially allowed to do so.

After interviewing several candidates for their head coaching position, it looks like the Philadelphia Eagles have finally found their man.

According to Philadelphia Daily News sports reporter Les Bowen, the Eagles will name Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson as their next head coach when they are officially allowed to do so.

With the Chiefs still alive in the playoffs, the Eagles can’t officially introduce Pederson as the next head coach of their team until their season is finished. In Kansas City, Pederson has helped construct an offense that has turned the Chiefs into a perennial playoff contender.

He really showed just how good of a coordinator he was this season, when running back Jamaal Charles went down with a season-ending injury. Many wrote the Chiefs off at that point, but Pederson showed just what he could do with the variety of pieces that they have on offense.

There’s also great irony to be had out of this entire situation. Pederson comes from the head coaching tree of Andy Reid. Reid, of course, was just fired by the Eagles a few seasons back and now they are hiring one of his coaches. The Eagles have found their man and that’s another job off the market.
