Anthony Davis might not be in the NBA playoffs this year, but he’s still playing like a champ.

On Friday night, the New Orleans Pelicans were hosting the Charlotte Hornets and the contest came down to the final seconds. Of course, New Orleans went to superstar center Anthony Davis, who went up and skied above the crowd for the game-winning alley-oop dunk.

The Pelicans have been struggling this year, but Davis continues to be one of the true stars in the National Basketball Association. New Orleans was able to lock Davis up long-term, ensuring that he does not go the way of LeBron James or if you want to go old school, Shaquille O’Neal.

Davis is the cornerstone for a franchise that has never really had much footing in New Orleans. The franchise once had Chris Paul and appeared to be on its way, but was not able to hold onto Paul, who was traded to Los Angeles (twice, technically).

Davis is the key for the Pelicans should it be able to get back into the postseason for the second straight year. Last year, New Orleans was swept out by the Golden State Warriors.
