Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Davante Adams will not play in Saturday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

This news has been expected all week-long. Davante Adams will not play in the Green Bay Packers’ crucial Divisional tie with the Arizona Cardinals this weekend after missing practice all week due to a knee injury he picked up in last week’s win over the Washington Redskins. Adams has been disappointing all season long for the Packers. With Jordy Nelson out all year  with an ACL tear, Adams was expected to elevate himself into an outside threat.

However, his poor route running, terrible hands and significant injury issues have stunted his development, and he has now slipped below free agent acquisition James Jones throughout the year. However, the Packers’ offense has struggled all season. The offensive line has been truly dire, limiting the run game and being unable to protect Aaron Rodgers.

The receivers haven’t been able to get open whatsoever, and consequently, Rodgers has been scrambling all year long. This week, they will face up to an Arizona Cardinals’ defense that is solid in all areas. They blitz more than any team in the league, something that Green Bay struggle greatly with, they have a top class secondary and are stout against the run.

While Adams has not lived up to expectations this year, he is still a viable weapon for Rodgers, and he will be badly missed. James Jones will see a lot of Patrick Peterson, and it is likely that he is taken out of the game, so a second and third weapon will be vital for the Green Bay offense. Adams would have been that guy. Now Rodgers, must work without him. It remains to be seen if he can carry this team once again.
