New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis took on five Memphis Grizzlies and lived to tell the tale
The New York Knicks have been a pleasant surprise this season. They entered Saturday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies just 1.5 games out of a playoff spot and in third place in the Atlantic Division. A large part of their success has been the phenomenal play of rookie power forward sensation Kristaps Porzingis. Early in Saturday’s game, Porzingis took on five Grizzlies and managed to win.
At this point, everyone should be grateful he didn’t buy Powerball tickets. It’s safe to say that had he bought Powerball tickets, he would’ve won because he’s Porzingis.
Kristaps Porzingis is averaging 13.9 points per game to go along with 8.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 blocks per game entering Saturday’s game. He is third among rookies in points per game, trailing only Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns. He ranks second to only Towns in rebounds per game. He ranks first among all rookies in blocks per game. He has 15 double doubles on the season, trailing only Towns and his 19 double doubles.
The Knicks caught a bit of flack for drafting some 20 year old kid from Lithuania in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft but it looks like the Knicks have accidentally stumbled upon a future superstar in Porzingis.
